Matthew Huttle, 42, who was recently pardoned for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot, was fatally shot during a traffic stop on Sunday by a Jasper County sheriff’s deputy.

Authorities said Huttle resisted arrest and had a firearm on him, leading to an altercation where the deputy fired his weapon.

The deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave, and the Indiana State Police is investigating.

Huttle had pled guilty to entering a restricted building in 2023, serving a prison sentence before being pardoned by President Trump, NBC News has reported.
