Tribal nations across the U.S. are urging members to safeguard their IDs amid reports of Indigenous Americans being detained or questioned by ICE agents, despite holding valid tribal and state-issued IDs.

Navajo Nation officials reported at least 15 cases of such incidents in the southwest, prompting concerns over sovereignty and citizenship recognition.
Tribes like the Ute and Paiute are offering legal support and advising members to document ICE encounters, Axios has reported.
