Parasha Sh'moth: Exodus 1:1-6:1

The parasha begins with the names (sh'moth) of the sons of Jacob who enter Egypt with him at the invitation of Joseph. 'A new pharaoh arose who knew not Joseph,' Moses is introduced, and we experience his moral character, and then his encounter with God in the burning bush.
