Immigration front and center

Since returning to office, President Donald J. Trump has moved lightning-fast on curtailing immigration. Naturally he has surprised many – and dismayed some – with the swiftness of his policy changes. But he has also exposed many nodes of resistance to the idea of secure borders. That resistance exists not only in Congress but also in the media.
More moves on the immigration front
President Trump signed ten Executive Orders on immigration, naturalization, and citizenship on his first day – though it was a half day. The next day, returning Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan announced his force had already begun arresting “criminal aliens.”
Over the weekend, the scope of these arrests became apparent. Yesterday morning, David Greyson at The Gateway Pundit reported the arrests of three “Tren de Aragua” gang members. ICE picked up one in San Antonio, Texas, and two others in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2023, Biden’s immigration apparatus had released all three under its “catch and release” policy. Now that ICE has caught them again, they will not release those men.
Then yesterday afternoon, Jim Hoft (TGP) reported a mass arrest by the Drug Enforcement Agency in Denver, Colorado. They (with aid from several other agencies) raided a “makeshift nightclub” and arrested fifty illegal aliens linked to that gang. Contrary to the earlier bluster by Denver’s mayor, Denver police assisted in that operation.
Political leaders nationwide noted the immigration sea change after Trump’s reelection – and none more so than Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas). Yesterday morning Gov. Abbott, appearing with Maria Bartiroma on Sunday Morning Futures, acknowledged the reality of that sea change. He praised the Second Trump Administration for removing “hundreds” of illegal immigrants per day.
I don’t think there has ever been a more sudden, and swift change in any government operation than under President Trump when he the oath of took office. I would say overnight but on the first hour of his tenure as President. We saw the change where there were military sent to the border. The military were blocking people from crossing the border illegally.

Abbott also announced that his ballard barrier in the Rio Grande is now complete at Eagle Pass, Texas.
The final set of buoys has been set in place and completed in the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass. Texas will continue to enhance border infrastructure in strategic areas along the border to deter & repel unlawful border crossings.
Because of Texas’ unprecedented action, border crossings are down over 87%, with only 61 illegal border crossings reported yesterday in the Del Rio Sector - the goal is ZERO. Operation Lone Star continues to deliver results.

An electrifying report
The most shocking report over the weekend came from Fox News regular Harris Faulkner. She says that of 320,000 migrant children missing and unaccounted for, the new administration has already found 80,000. Reports came in from Gateway Hispanic and TGP. These reports contained three X posts with relevant information:
Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller says the administration will expose the child trafficking that's been happening at the border & everyone involved.
“This administration is going to investigate every instance of child trafficking, labor trafficking, s*x trafficking, child smuggling, and all the attendant crimes involved in that…. Our message to everyone in the country is to cooperate fully with Immigration and Customs Enforcement so that we can end the scourge of child trafficking and child abuse that has been endemic these last four years.
President Trump is going to crush the entire trafficking industry.

Between 75,000 and 80,000 of the over 300,000 missing migrant children have been located, according to Harris Faulkner on Fox News. She stated that the Trump administration's efforts to identify these children began even before the election and emphasized the importance of finding “these little ones.” Faulkner blasted former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for lying to a committee about not knowing the whereabouts of these missing children.
Tom Homan announced that plans to launch an operation to locate and rescue these children would begin immediately.

Last September, Jordan Conradson (TGP) shared an investigation by Muckraker.com, mentioning those 320,000 missing children. Muckraker started with this Inspector General’s report in August. (That report could be one reason Trump didn’t fire the DHS Inspector General, though he fired at least seventeen others.) Muckraker then tracked some of them down.

Muckraker CEO Anthony Rubin shared how the government was treating those children:
We discovered that while in federal government custody, some children asked to be sent back to their home country, but are instead taken away in the middle of the night and sent to sponsors who they do not know. It is also well documented that this program has placed children in the hands of criminal organizations such as MS-13, as well as labor and sex trafficking rings.
Muckraker also quoted a border patrol agent saying what was happening sounded like the movie Sound of Freedom (2023).
Oddly enough, no further reports have surfaced about the finding of those 80,000 children. But it’s easy to believe, given the stepped-up enforcement action – and simple records checks, plus increased transparency at DHS.
To reply to one other suggest that border wall construction has recently resumed: that construction probably resumed last October. The Biden administration allegedly resumed construction on October 5 – after Texas had won an injunction under the Administrative Procedures Act to prevent diversion of funds. But reports then surfaced of the Biden administration selling off perfectly usable wall materials. Texas simply filed to enjoin that activity as well.
Media resistance
While Gov. Abbott was on Sunday Morning Futures, Vice-President J. D. Vance was on (De)Face the Nation. Hostess Margaret Brennan immediately accused the Trump administration of excluding legitimate refugees who had been “heavily vetted.” (See Trump’s Executive Order pausing the Refugee Admissions Program.) Vance disputed her premise, saying many so-called refugees have not been vetted. He went on to say:
In fact, we know that there are cases of people who allegedly were properly vetted and then were literally planning terrorist attacks in our country. That happened during the campaign, if you may remember.
Ms. Brennan didn’t want to accept that, and kept repeating, “These people are vetted.” Vance stopped her by citing a specific example from Oklahoma. Fox News reported that an ISIS-linked man was planning a mass shooting on Election Day. That man was an Afghan national.

Ms. Brennan pleaded that no one knew whether that Afghani was radicalized before or after his entry into the country. Vance observed – correctly – that it didn’t matter.
In that same interview, Vance criticized the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops after they complained about ICE raids near churches and schools. Said Vance:
As a practicing Catholic, I was actually heartbroken by that statement. And I think that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops needs to actually look in the mirror a little bit and recognize that when they receive over $100 million to help resettle illegal immigrants, are they worried about humanitarian concerns? Or are they actually worried about their bottom line? We’re going to enforce immigration law. We’re going to protect the American people.

Furthermore, Vance reminded them of their silence about those 320,000 missing children.
ICE Director Homan similarly clashed with Martha Raddatz on ABC’s This Week. She referred to the use, for the first time, of military transports to fly illegal immigrants south. When she presumed to criticize that, Homan said,
If you’re in the country illegally, you’re on the table because it’s not okay to violate laws in this country. You gotta remember, every time you enter this country illegally, you violated a crime under Title Eight, United States Code 1325; it’s a crime. So if you’re in the country illegally, you got a problem, and that’s why I’m hoping those who are in the country illegally, who have not been ordered removed by the federal judge, should leave.

Immigration dominates the news
Immigration is dominating the news cycle because President Trump is acting swiftly and decisively. Of course, it is meeting resistance, in addition to the carping from the legacy media. Several clergy have vowed to give “sanctuary” to illegal aliens.

Last night, President Xiomara Castro de Zelaya of Honduras called a meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States to discuss strategy in dealing with the new mass deportation policy. Yesterday, the President of Colombia refused landing to two U.S. military repatriation airlift flights. (His statement that he would accept repatriation by civilian aircraft only, strikes CNAV as a spurious quibble.) Trump threatened sanctions, including a 25 percent tariff on Colombian goods, and restrictions on Colombian visas. Colombian President Gustavo Petro relented – and even sent his executive transport to take some of his citizens back. Hence, the meeting call.

Trump seems more than capable of meeting any and all such resistance. He proved that by rehiring Tom Homan as head of ICE and then making him “Border Czar.” He proved it again by forcing President Petro to back down. But more than anything else, Trump has exposed the depth of the problem Joe Biden’s handlers created over four years.
