South Korean President Yoon Arrested for Insurrection ??.

South Korean authorities have arrested President Yoon Suk Yeol on charges of insurrection following his failed attempt to impose martial law.

Yoon is currently being held at the Corruption Investigation Office. In a statement, he said he agreed to cooperate with the interrogation "despite it being an illegal investigation, to prevent any unnecessary bloodshed."

The arrest followed a prolonged standoff at Yoon's residence, where investigators resorted to using ladders and wire cutters to bypass his security detail and supporters.

This historic arrest marks the first time a sitting South Korean president has been taken into custody.

Yoon had been in hiding for several weeks, evading an earlier arrest attempt by investigators earlier this month.
