In 1988 three labs took samples from what many consider a sacred artifact called the Shroud of Turin, before the Catholic Church was even apprised of the findings they had already been published in a book and were trumpeted world wide in the press that the Shroud was a fake, another researcher from an earlier testing session said it had pigment on it which means it was painted...whelp that's the end, right?
