Christian Simpson Foundation raises $26,000 for children battling cancer
Over the weekend the second Christian Simpson Golf Tournament was held at Buena Vista Golf Course and raised more than $26,000 for the Christian Simpson Foundation. The foundation takes the money they raise from the golf tournament and from generous donations and helps financially support families who have children battling cancer. The foundation was started in honor of Christian Simpson, a young man who grew up in Kern County and was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma at 17 years old. Unfortunately, Christian lost his battle seven months later at the age of 18. However, his father Johnny Simpson said throughout his battle Christian constantly looked for ways to give to the younger children in the hospital also battling cancer. For instance, on his 18th birthday he asked that instead of presents for him, people bring gifts to give to the other kids at the hospital battling cancer.
