On January 21, multiple wildfires broke out in San Diego County, California, causing evacuations, school closures and power outages.
The Lilac Fire started in the Bonsall-Escondido area and grew to more than 70 acres, forcing the evacuation of about 4,000 residents in Bonsall, north of San Diego.
The Pala Fire, north of Pala Mesa, has burned about 20 acres (8 hectares) of vegetation. Firefighters have managed to stop its spread and evacuation orders have been lifted.
The Friars Fire is in the Mission Valley area. The fire is 15-20 acres near Friars Road and Fashion Valley Mall. Surrounding areas have been evacuated. Two people were injured and one apartment was damaged.
These fires were fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, leading to the issuance of extreme fire warnings.
