US Release Date: February 14, 2025
Starring: Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Malena Alterio, Rodrigo Poisón
Director: Antonio Méndez Esparza
Synopsis: A woman's life takes a definitive turn the day that she loses her job as a computer programmer.
ComingSoon is debuting the exclusive Something Is About to Happen trailer, previewing the upcoming thriller about a woman who takes on work as a cab driver looking to find a man after a chance romantic encounter. The film will premiere on VOD, digital, and the streaming service Film Movement Plus on February 14, 2025.
“A steamy encounter with a new neighbor who has gone missing leads the recently unemployed Lucia (Malena Alterio) to take on work as a cab driver in hopes of finding the man that reawakened her latent sexuality,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Using her new vocation as a means of radical connection and self-reinvention, she finds both erotic and intellectual stimulation from her clientele. However, the more Lucia freely gives of herself to strangers, the more it becomes clear that she might be the target of a nefarious plot with violent consequences.”

Welcome to the West Coast. NBC has dropped the first trailer for Suits spinoff Suits LA which opens with Stephen Amell‘s Ted Black getting hit with an insult right off the bat.
“You don’t represent me. I need someone with confidence. And you just seem a little sheepish to me.” That’s followed with an emphatic Ted asserting he’s ‘the best attorney in the country.”
With the move to the West Coast, Ted warns, “It’s different out here. People lie. They cheat. They do whatever they can to win,” as we see shots of people breaking things in offices, fighting and apparently taking a bribe. The clip concludes with a quick shot of a photo of Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter.

PREVIOUS, Nov. 22, 2024: NBC has dropped the first teaser trailer for Suits spinoff Suits LA and it has the look and the feel of the original series — more specifically, its opening credit sequence.
Set to the same version of the Suits theme song, Ima Robot’s “Greenback Boogie”, the short teaser gives us a glimpse of stars Stephen Amell, Josh McDermitt, and Lex Scott Davis, with the Los Angeles skyline as a backdrop.
You can watch the new teaser below and compare it to the Suits opening credits for Seasons 1 and 8 below. (The visual style of the original series’ opener evolved significantly over the years, with the Suits LA teaser resembling its later versions.)
Created by Aaron Korsh, Suits: L.A centers on Ted Black (Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York who has reinvented himself by representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and to survive, he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other and they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All this happens while the show slowly unravels the events that years ago led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved to start all over.
In addition to Amell, McDermitt and Davis, Bryan Greenberg also stars. Deadline also learned recently that Gabriel Macht, who played the brash and suave super lawyer Harvey Specter on the original series, will reprise his role on the offshoot in a three-episode arc.
Korsh is writer and executive producer. David Bartis, Doug Liman, Gene Klein, Anton Cropper, Genevieve Sparling, Rick Muirragui and Jon Cowan also executive produce. Victoria Mahoney directed the pilot episode, as Deadline exclusively reported back in February.
Suits LA, produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, premieres February 23, 2025 on NBC.

Sony has unleashed the official trailer for 28 Years Later this morning, the long awaited sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later that puts Danny Boyle back in the director’s chair.
Boyle reteams with writer Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Ex Machina, Annihilation) on 28 Years Later, which is intended to kick off a brand new TRILOGY of movies for the franchise.
Watch the official trailer for 28 Years Later below.
28 Years Later will be unleashed in theaters on June 20, 2025 from Sony.
In the new movie, “It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.”
From what we understand, the first TWO movies in the 28 Years Later trilogy have already been filmed. Boyle directs the first installment, while Nia DaCosta (Candyman, The Marvels) directs the second. Alex Garland (28 Days Later) wrote the screenplay for 28 Years Later. Additionally, Cillian Murphy is executive producing and reportedly returning to star.
The horror movie’s cast includes Jack O’Connell (Amy Winehouse: Back To Black), Jodie Comer (Alone in the Dark, “Killing Eve”), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), Alfie Williams (“His Dark Materials”) and Ralph Fiennes (The Menu).
The original movie in 2002 starred Cillian Murphy and was written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle. In the smash hit horror film, “Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary.
Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun star in Love Me, a film directed and written by Sam Zuchero and Andy Zuchero that debuted at Sundance earlier this year.
The trailer for the film shows how a buoy, played by Stewart, and a satellite, played by Yeun, meet long after humans have become extinct. With only the internet to guide them, they learn what being alive and in love means.

“The movie’s about everyone, all of our projections, fears and insecurities,” she said. “The way we interact with ourselves and each other, the way we present. The negotiation between lies and manipulation and also disparity in wanting to be seen. I just looked at it [the script] and was like, ‘Oh so I could play everyone in the whole world in this movie, and then really I could only play myself.’… When I watched the movie it’s like everyone I’ve ever met is in it.”
Love Me was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize at Sundance, which is presented to an outstanding title focusing on science or technology as a theme, or depicting a scientist, engineer, or mathematician as a major character.
The film is set to hit U.S. theaters on January 31, 2025.

Finland’s Helsinki-filmi is ready to hear “Dead Women Talking” in a new series set to be directed by Jojo Erholtz.
Based on the original concept by Johanna Holvikallio – with Tua Harno as head writer – it will see two ambitious reporters, Olivia and Noora, hosting a podcast about crimes against women. But a decades-old case of small-town beauty queen murders might cost them their lives.
“I believe original ideas are still worth investing in. Stories with unique but relatable hooks will continue to put bums in the seats,” said Head of Drama Mia Ylönen.

“Finns have grown to strive in the field of unique ideas, just look at Nordic Noir and ‘Finnish Weird.’ As a production company, we also want to highlight new voices and marginalized communities, while ensuring the film or series still attracts a wide mainstream audience.”
True crime podcasts have proven to be “incredibly popular” among young women, pointed out producer Anniina Leppänen.
“I believe this subject resonates deeply with the target audience of the series. Personally, I have been listening to them for years and it has been fascinating to explore why this format appeals so strongly to women. Especially considering that true crime magazines and documentaries have been around for decades,” she added.
“The series is a bold, addictive and modern addition to the world of crime dramas. While it focuses on violence against women – a critical social issue that cannot be ignored – it approaches the topic from a fresh perspective. It literally gives a voice to women: both those investigating crimes and those who have been victims.”
In the show, currently in development and lightened by main characters’ friendship and humor, women won’t be “faceless statistics.”
“They are real, multidimensional individuals with dreams, aspirations and opinions. While the series explores dark and heavy themes, it remains an engaging crime drama with compelling mystery elements.”
Jojo Erholtz

Jojo Erholtz, a Helsinki-based director, writer and editor behind “Detective Maria Kallio” and “Soulmates” – developing her debut feature with Aamu Film Company, also behind Juho Kuosmanen’s hits – was “excited” to get the call.
“What drew me was its complex narrative and well-drawn characters. The story takes place in two different timelines as our modern-day protagonists begin to investigate a murder which happened in the 1980s. The idea of using podcast narration and sound as the source of drama, and as a narrative guide, offers a unique way of approaching the style of the series,” she told Variety.
“And, of course, having two fierce female protagonists fighting for the truth while risking their lives makes for an entertaining rollercoaster.”
At the moment, Finnish scripts tend to be “more ambitious than our funding,” but shows like “Dead Women Talking” will “hopefully set the bar high.”
“It motivates not only the key creators but everyone who works on the series. I would love to see a Nordic zombie drama-thriller set in the coldness of the winter. Perhaps I should pitch this to Mia?”
Ahead of Göteborg’s TV Drama Vision, Helsinki-filmi also debuted an exclusive trailer for much-anticipated “Icebreaker.” The show, directed by Pete Riski, will have its international premiere on AMC+ in Spain on Feb. 13.
Led by actor Jessica Grabowsky, cast as a coast guard whose day is about to take a turn for the worse, it introduces a group of survivors left on a stranded icebreaker. Soon, they start to disappear and something supernatural might be at play.
“Both of these series combine something familiar with something surprising. ‘Icebreaker’ takes a mystery thriller to an unseen location: a literal icebreaker ploughing through the frozen sea. ‘Dead Women Talking’ investigates a murder case in an unusual surrounding: a true crime podcast. I believe that these titillating concepts, combined with strong female leads, are the unique selling points of these series,” said Ylönen.
“Icebreaker,” commissioned by Elisa Viihde, is distributed by APC. “Dead Women Talking” is commissioned by YLE.
“Our international shows will continue to focus on high-concept crime and thriller series, continuing in the footsteps of our flagship series ‘Codename: Annika.’ One that, again, merged something familiar – an undercover cop – with something unfamiliar: the world of art fraud. Our strength has always lied in creating unique drama concepts with an irresistible hook and a human heart.”

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming fourth season of drama Sweet Magnolias, which drops on the streamer Thursday, February 6.
The logline: “Come spend the holidays in Serenity, as Season 4 of Sweet Magnolias takes us from Halloween to Christmas, with surprising laughter, unexpected heartbreak, and renewed resolve along the way. While negotiating the twists and turns of their romantic lives, Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen must also navigate the return of old foes, the loss of great loves, and the pain of transition from past dreams to present ones. As the men in their lives pursue their own dreams and the teenagers take uneasy steps toward adulthood, the Magnolias support each other with creative problem-solving, deep-hearted commitment, and — as always — weekly margaritas.”
And the trailer:
Based on the Sweet Magnolias novels by Sherryl Woods, the series follows three South Carolina women (JoAnna Garcia Swisher as Maddie Townsend, Brooke Ellioyy as Dana Sue Sullivan and Heather Headley as Helen Decatur), best friends since childhood, as they shepherd each other through the complexities of romance, career, and family.
