Deck Profiles: BRS - SSP Episode 3 | Terapagos

My deck profile on Terapagos ex.

If you can't tell by my voice, I'm a very angry dude. I try to come off as pleasant and welcoming, but deep down I'm a mean, mean dude. So I'm gonna give a little less anger and vitriol to the Pokemon TCG community for this video and try to explain as calmly and forgiving as possible. And plus, Pokemon is a very hard game, so I don't expect a lot of the community, especially the Pokemon TCG community, which is rife with "players" that couldn't tell you the difference between Toedscool and Tentacool, to be able to understand what Pokemon was trying to do with Terapagos ex and Stellar Crown in general, which is the set that Terapagos ex came out. In fact, they would probably try to evolve Tentacool into Toedscruel.

So, Terapagos is a Mythical Pokemon introduced in the Indigo Disk DLC for the Nintendo Switch games Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. With the DLC, they introduced a new Tera type called the Stellar Type. For Pokemon TCG players that didn't play the game, how this type works is that it boosts all types of attacks. And so, to promote the Stellar type, they introduced Terapagos, a Pokemon that can do a lot of things (and that's an understatement).

Terapagos has 3 abilities, its first ability which turns it into its first form, its Terastal Form. In its Terastal form, it's first attack that it takes at full health turns into a not very effective move. It's second ability, Teraform Zero, activates when it Terastilizes and its neturalizes all weather and terrain on the field. Terapagos also has a signature move, Tera Starstorm, which turns into a multi-target move when it Terastilizes.

So Terapagos does a lot of things in the game. And that's exactly what Pokemon was trying to do with it in the TCG. With Terapagos ex, they printed a slew of support Pokemon and Trainer cards to facilitate Terapagos ex setting up on the board. These cards are mainly intended to support Terapagos ex, and are meant to see success in Terapagos-focused decks.

So, Terapagos on paper is a very strong archetype. It's just very misunderstood since not a lot of successful players in the Pokemon TCG right now are very aware of what Terapagos is supposed to accomplish in the Pokemon TCG, probably because they haven't played the game in earnest too much (a lotta youngsters in the Pokemon TCG right now).

So this is episode 3 of my BRS - SSP deck profile videos. I hope you enjoy, and I hope you continue to support my work.
