Deck Profiles: BRS - SSP Episode 1 | Chien Pao

My first Pokemon TCG deck profile video on this channel. I've been wanting to do deck profiles for a long time (4-5 years) and I feel like the time is right to start. And the deck I'm starting with is par for the course to show my patience and tolerance has paid off, because Chien Pao is definitely the hardest deck to play in the meta. I want to do a deck profile on it to revive it because this deck is more or less dead in terms of play % because it's so hard.

Chien Pao doesn't deserve to be less than 1% play rate at regionals. The deck is very strong, and it rewards good players, particularly in best of 3. It shows that a lot of players that have been playing at regionals and in best of 3 formats are either too scared to give Chien Pao the time of day or are newer, less experienced players that don't have the game knowledge to main Chien Pao in this format. The latter is probably more accurate because people have been pretty upset about BRS formats and have been very vocal about it, and so I tend to believe that it's due to a large influx of new players taking up events and a large influx of experienced players not playing as much.

Because of this, Chien Pao's lists have not really been updated over the BRS formats. We saw a couple lists during SFA, and a couple in TEF, and even some from Japan, but for the most part, Chien Pao hasn't taken off as a meta threat. This video's goal is to update Chien Pao's concepts and give it a new look for the release of Prismatic Evolutions. I mention in this video, though, that I don't believe that Prismatic Evolutions marks the introduction of a new format because it is a special set.

So this is episode 1 of my deck profiles for BRS - SSP. Thanks for listening and I hope you continue to support my work.
