P17 Bolt Disassembly

If the firing pin on your KelTec P17 gets sticky, you’ll need to clean inside the bolt

P17 Bolt Disassembly…The manual says don’t do this.

I’m not a graduate of Sonoran Desert Institute so take notice…you are being advised by an amateur. You’ve been warned.

Remove the slide from your pistol

If you don’t know to do a safety check first, you probably should not continue at all. In fact you should box up your P17 and send it back to KelTec as being inadequate for the cognitively infirm.

Using a 2.5mm Hex wrench remove the two screws from the top.

Remove the Slide Cover

Pry and Separate the slide from the bolt

Lift out the firing pin spring

Remove the firing pin

Note the spring stop pin in the middle of the firing pin…the longest part faces up…toward the slide.

Clean thoroughly. I recommend Sentry Tuf-Glide dry lube.
