Clark County School District Settles $1M Lawsuit Over Police Incident

In February 2023, Clark County, NV, School District (CCSD) police were called to Durango High School to respond to reports of a fight among students. During the incident, a student who was reportedly uninvolved in the altercation became the focus of attention when a CCSD police officer forcibly threw them to the ground.

The incident led to internal investigations, the release of body camera footage and reports, and, ultimately, a $1 million settlement approved by the Clark County School Board to compensate two families affected by the officer's actions.
