Marvel Rivals-Ironman Game Play

Ironman is a ranged DPS with the power of flight, though you won't be doing much flying, mostly hovering and dodging gunfire from characters that can shoot you out of the sky, like The Punisher, Winter Soldier, and Star-lord. I guess Marvel Games Studio doesn't understand the fact that Tony Stark is basically wearing the worlds most advanced tank as a flying suite of armor, because Marvel Game Studios totally shit on this character in certain aspects. You will either love this shit show or hate this shit show, allow me to explain. Ironman's primary attack is/are Repulsor Blasts from the palm of his hand, and they are to slow, healers have faster attack speeds with their primary than Ironman. His secondary attack is his Unibeam which he shoots from his chest, and it is a mid-range attack, but is actually great for melting a flanking character like Spider-Man or other flying characters like Storm. No gripes on that one. BUT, micro-missel barrage, and it is exactly what it sounds like, is completely useless. The spread on the missel barrage and lack of damage simply tickles enemy players. I only use it for shits and giggles because it looks cool, if it even hits anything. You can only use micro-missel barrage if the ability armor overdrive is active, or if you are cruising through the air using the ability hyper-velocity. Armor overdrive increases the damage of your repulsor blast and unibeam greatly, but has a cool down which is fine, it makes sense. Hyper velocity however, is an ability that allows Ironman to travel at great speeds through the air, for a limited time though, and you can only use the craptastic ability micro-missel barrage while hyper velocity is active, oh goodie. This brings me back to his power of flight, which is more like the power of slowly hovering. His hover speed is fine, but he has no defensive counters to help survive a counterattack from faster moving, land-based characters. Is Marvel Game Studios really telling me that Tony Stark said, "fuck it, Jarvis, don't worry about defensive abilities, just paint it red"? How about something as simple as a dodge with his boosters, a shield with a cool down, over armor, anything. This brings me to his special ability, the invincible pulse cannon, which when it is built up, can be fired from Ironman's chest. This is a massive area of effect damage ability capable of melting multiple enemies at once, if they are all standing together holding hands and dancing in a circle. The attack has a buildup, but during this build up, you can be taken out before it even does off. Other characters have damage reduction while their supers are active, why not Ironman too? All in all, Ironman is still fun to play if you maintain an awareness of your surroundings and hover close to cover, up high and away from melee-based classes like Wolverine. I understand Marvel Game Studios was thinking fun over utility, but Ironman's' defensive capabilities have always matched his offensive capabilities, a shame they slept on that, he would have made a great tank. Oddly enough, he is my favorite character to play, and at the same time, my favorite character to bitch about.
