The National Rifle Association announced a new ad campaign against Senator Jon Tester (D., Mont.) on Thursday.

The gun group's Institute for Legislative Action said it would be spending six figures to buy time for the 30-second TV ad throughout Montana. The ad accuses Tester of misrepresenting himself to voters by claiming to be for gun rights but voting in favor of Supreme Court justices favored by gun-control advocates like Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor while voting against Neil Gorsuch.

"Contrary to what Jon Tester says in Montana, he has supported the gun-control agenda of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer by voting in favor of gun control in Washington, D.C.," Chris Cox, executive director of the institute, said in a statement. "Montana gun owners deserve a trustworthy, consistent advocate for their Second Amendment freedoms. Jon Tester cannot be trusted to stand with President Trump and support our fundamental right to self-defense."
