The first time I faced an official protest was at Harvard, of all places. I was invited to speak to a student group, and suddenly, there's this whole organized protest against me. I had no idea my ideas were that radical! But stepping out of the church and into academia, I quickly realized something—what I was teaching must be more powerful than I thought. The campus atheists, agnostics, and even folks involved in witchcraft from nearby Salem all showed up to protest, and I remember thinking, "Why do they care about me?"
