DEVASTATING Israeli Attacks SHATTER Ceasefire!

Right, so Israel go sure, we’ll agree to a ceasefire in Gaza this time, sure we’ll let aid in, but whilst we’re doing that if you think we’re going to stop being depraved warmongering so and so’s punching down on occupied Palestinians within their own territory think again because we’re going to start on the West Bank and all after our mates in the Palestinian Authority softened the area up first and are continuing to help us keep on attacking now too!
Yes, Israel have embarked on an all new assault on the West Bank, the so called Operation Iron Wall and they have Palestinians helping them in that via the Palestinian Authority, it really is no wonder so many Palestinians, especially in Gaza have such a deep disgust for the PA, because right now they’re proving them absolutely right as the northern West Bank town of Jenin continues to come under assault, with Palestinians being displaced from their homes again, and this time not just by the IDF, but by some of their own as well. We knew this was coming, Israel were making no secret of the fact they wanted to start big operations in the West Bank ahead of the ceasefire in Gaza, the timing suspiciously coinciding with Trump’s inauguration implying a newly emboldened Israel is set to get even worse going forwards.
Right, so Operation Iron Wall began two days ago, it’s not been well covered in the West and where it has been, such as by the Guardian or the BBC, you might question the veracity of their way of telling you what exactly has gone on, much better to check out the alternative media sources if that is all you are left with quite honestly!
Beginning with an airstrike that killed at least 6, Operation Iron Wall has been focused in and around Jenin in the north of the West Bank, a fight against terror is what the likes of the IDF and Shin Bet and the Israeli border police have called this, Jenin being a base of operations for parts of Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the Al Quds Brigades. This has followed some 6 weeks of grossly underreported West bank attacks on Jenin by the Palestinian Authority, Palestinians attacking Palestinians, all supposedly in the name of rooting out those same groups and establishing PA control over the Jenin refugee camp.
I think it’s worth looking at the Palestinian Authority for a moment because it might be news to some that actually most Palestinians detest the PA, viewed with distrust these days, especially in Gaza, seen as Israeli stooges and not without good reason.
The PA began as a mid 90’s attempt at establishing a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders. It was supposed to be a temporary body lasting a few weeks, a product of the Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Authority, which at the time was led by this guy, Yasser Arafat.
The Oslo Accords of course failed, no two state solution appeared, the talks fell apart in 2014 and frankly matters have only worsened since.
The PA was created to oversee parts of the occupied West Bank, the so called Areas A and B, with the much larger Area C remaining under Israeli control. The PA, like the PLO is dominated by one political party though, Fatah so you’d think it’d be quite democratic therefore, and you’d be wrong largely because where it does indeed have an elected legislature and presidency, there has been no presidential election since Mahmood Abbas was elected in 2005, he has ruled by decree ever since and there have been no parliamentary elections since 2006 and the reason for that is because Abbas lost that election, but wouldn’t have it.
You see in 2006, the PA lost the election to Hamas, who then were able to form a government in Gaza, they had campaigned on an anti corruption and anti-Western platform and of course refused to recognise the State of Palestine. For all the labelling of Hamas as a terror group, they were still elected to power to run Gaza. Rather than admit to defeat, matters descended into a Palestinian civil war, with Fatah and Hamas splitting away from each other further, Gaza run by one group, the West Bank by the other.
In 2009 Mahmood Abbas’ term as PA president ended, but instead of going, he argued that he should stay on another year so that presidential and parliamentary elections could be held at the same time, which prompted calls from Hamas that his incumbency was illegitimate, and this is a situation that has only worsened, since Abbas has still not held those elections and remains in post now 16 years past his own expiry date. He is now 87 years of age, that’s 9 years older than Joe Biden and he’s still squatting.
Worse than that though, is the direction the PA have gone in over his too long reign. Where relations between Fatah and Hamas have only worsened, the closeness of the PA to Israel has meant they can have the front of legitimacy and governmental structure, but hold no real power because it’s all Israel’s. Abbas has done what he needed to do to survive in his post under occupation and for a lot of Palestinians he is a sell out. Now the PA are fighting with Israel in Jenin those scenes you may have seen on social media, so you can imagine what even more Palestinians think of Fatah and the PA and Abbas, and him not holding elections is him basically admitting he’d be voted out in a shot.
So 6 weeks of the PA softening up Jenin for Israel attack isn’t a surprise actually.
As Israeli forces moved in, bulldozing roads, they made for their favourite target, a hospital. Oh what am I saying just one hospital? Don’t be silly, make that two. Jenin Government Hospital had it’s entrance bulldozed, the nearby Ibn Sina hospital was also attacked just yesterday.
People have been forced to sleep in corridors, the Israeli forces are preventing food and supplies making it into the hospitals, same story as we saw in Gaza, they attack the sickest and weakest first, attack civilian infrastructure, because they are so utterly immoral and depraved.
Did I say just two hospitals? Make that three. Middle East Eye have reported a third hospital being attacked, only in this case it’s not Israel doing the attacking:
‘Israeli forces have continued besieging and attacking two Jenin hospitals for a second consecutive day since the launch of a major assault on the northern occupied West Bank city, as Palestinian Authority (PA) forces stormed a third hospital.
Medical teams attempting to provide care have come under direct Israeli fire, while paramedics have been obstructed from reaching the dead and wounded, who remain strewn across the streets.
Israeli forces have killed at least 10 Palestinians and wounded 40 since the attack began on Tuesday morning, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.’
Yeah, the good old Palestinian Authority, attacking one of their own Palestinian hospitals, are you getting the measure of this bunch yet? Reasonable and civilised Palestinians they are not, they are just Israeli bootlickers.
Jenin refugee camp is no impassable, after relentless assault by joint Israel and PA attacks, not so much Operation Iron Wall, but more Operation Reduce to Rubble.
And then of course there is all of the displacement of people from their homes, forcible removal again echoing the ethnic cleansing witnessed in Gaza.
Where more than a dozen Palestinians have now been reported as having been killed in two days of attacks, more than 2000 people have been booted out of their homes, one person having spoken to Al Jazeera, said he’d spent the night in the grounds of the Jenin Governmental Hospital because he couldn’t reach his home due to Israeli operations going on, people getting hurt attempting to reach their homes, Israelis shooting at anyone trying to help those injured.
It also isn’t isolated to just Jenin either.
In Deir Sammit, west of Hebron further south in the West Bank, the IDF have been raiding homes of prisoners due to be released as part of the hostage exchange of the Gaza ceasefire, and whilst that was going on, the IDF were arresting more Palestinians in Bethlehem, a wide scale arrest campaign it has been described as, more hostages presumably to make up the shortfall of those that are about to be released.
And on top of that, well who’d have thought it? Israel have breached the ceasefire in Gaza again! Where they basically got away with the shooting of a child in Rafah on the day the ceasefire began, more shooting in Rafah is being reported today, allegedly all to do with Israel maintaining control over the Philadelphi corridor, the border between Gaza and Egypt, which they have refused to give up despite being a ceasefire requirement, one Netanyahu rowed back on at the last minute, violating peace accords they have with Egypt. But they might have found a solution to that problem do you know? Israel have decided that if they have to cede control of the Philadelphi Corridor, then they should be able to decide who it is that controls it going forwards and by this point I would hope it is to no surprise whatsoever, that they’d quite like the Palestinian Authority to take over it, under their supervision still though, they only trust their Palestinian patsies so much. Unelected, voted out of Gaza, and now to be imposed on Gaza by Israel, what a good look for them that will be and as soon as Gazans begin presumably attacking the PA if this happens, Israel will probably point to it and say their racist opinions about Palestinians being animals is proven, when here they are attacking each other, when all the PA frankly have left to do is put on an IDF uniform and be done with it.
