The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Playthrough (Wii) - Part 1

This is part 1 of my capture of me playing through The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii. This was recorded directly from my Wii (not the Wii U).

Here's a playthrough that I've been looking forward to for a while. Playing this again brings back a lot of memories from the Wii's launch back in 2006.

I purchased this game on its release date, but ironically, I wasn't able to secure a Wii. I made the mistake of trying to buy a Wii on launch day without a preorder (I was able to easily do that with the GameCube), and had a rude awakening as soon as I saw the line outside my local Target store. There were no extra Wiis available after the preorders were satisfied, so I simply purchased Twilight Princess (there was no point in waiting for that) and tried finding a Wii elsewhere.

It took a couple weeks, but I found a stock of Wiis at a nearby Circuit City and managed to finally secure my own new console. I immediately started playing through this game and Wii Sports at the same time.

Twilight Princess was a lot of fun, but in a way, I was disappointed by certain flaws in the game, such as a bland overworld and some bloated content. More than anything, I was disappointed because it failed to surpass Ocarina of Time or even match it. However, I have never been a fan of Toon Link, so I was definitely happy to see a return to the Ocarina-style graphics.

A few years later I replayed Twilight Princess and for whatever reason, I enjoyed it more than the first time. I really liked the dungeon settings aside from the recycled Forest and Water Temples. The Snow Temple in particular was intriguing because of how you're clearing out a rundown mansion while a couple of Yetis are living there and paying little attention to you. I also loved the pointer and motion controls. They made the game more fun for me (the utilization of the speaker on the Wii Remote was also neat). Overall, I'd probably rate this game as my second favorite 3D Zelda title behind Ocarina of Time.

I've probably beaten this game at least three times now, and I still have my original save file from 2006. Like always, I'll be collecting all of the Heart Pieces along the way and keeping track of them in the description. I'll also be collecting all of the golden bugs (and keeping track of them), but I won't bother with collecting more than 20 Poe's Souls (that's all you need to get the fourth bottle in this game).

This game seems to only be running at 30 fps from what I can tell, but I'll render each video at 60 fps just in case any parts of the game are running at a higher frame rate (such as menu screens).

In this first part I started a new save file and obtained the slingshot.

Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the Wii's component cables. I'm using a Wii Remote and nunchuck.
