President Donald Trump is dispatching an additional 1,500 active-duty troops to the southern border. The move comes two days after he signed a slew of executive orders aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration.

Police say a 17-year-old male student opened fire in the cafeteria of a Nashville high school around 11 a.m. local time on Wednesday. The assailant was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. One other student was killed in the shooting.

The Department of Justice has directed its federal prosecutors to investigate for potential criminal charges state or local officials who obstruct Trump’s immigration policies, according to a memorandum written by acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove.
