AND KEY ART FOR DEBUT FEATURE FILM ‘NO ADDRESS’ FROM FATHOM ENTERTAINMENT IN THEATRES FEBRUARY 28
Rajiv Shah appears in this compelling drama with a star-studded cast: William Baldwin (Silver, Backdraft), Isabella Ferreira (Love Victor, Marvel’s Wastelanders: Wolverine), Ashanti (Grammy winner, John Tucker Must Die), and Beverly D’Angelo (Entourage, Coal Miner’s Daughter).
Inspired by true events, No Address follows its characters who suddenly fall into homelessness. Bonded by this shared experience, these individuals turn into an unconventional family. Together, they try to navigate their current life together as they struggle to survive on the streets, fending off a harassing street gang and vigilantes, living in an unforgiving community, and warding off local authorities.
This film is produced by Robert Craig. Julia Verdin serves as writer, director, and producer.
In an interview with Forbes, the cast and creators expressed how the film and the issue of homelessness resonated with them. Xander Buerkely revealed that a project revolving around the topic has been close to him for a long time.
“I actually wrote a script and got close to writing a documentary that dealt with homelessness in the 1990s… it [homelessness] has been in my head and heart for a very long time,” said Xander Berkeley. “There are a lot of people out there who are very isolated… they want to be seen and to tell their stories,” he added.
Lucas Zade Zumann recollected his friends’ experiences, saying, “Homelessness resonates closely with me because friends of mine have experienced it themselves because of drug addiction, mental illness, or just not being able to pay rent during Covid.”
Isabella Ferreira has had personal experience with homelessness. She said, “I had foster children living in my home, so I had experience.” She then continued with how she used their experiences to prepare for her role.

Things are looking up indeed! After a week of build-up, the highly anticipated trailer for James Gunn’s Superman finally arrived, and all eyes are on the sky. As the first live-action installment of the DCU, a lot is riding on Superman. Not only is an entire cinematic universe dependent on the success of this film, but Gunn must also cut through the world’s cynicism and deliver a take on the character whose cinematic depiction, for many audiences, hasn’t resonated since 1978.
But the teaser trailer makes it clear that Superman ’25 is not Superman ’78. Composer John Murphy’s guitar riff on John Williams’ classic theme breathes new life into Superman as a hero and symbol, suggesting that Superman, while hanging onto the core themes associated with the character, is a living and evolving concept, an electric current through the world.

There are several key takeaways from the trailer. First, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Despite Warner Bros. Discovery’s press synopsis emphasizing hope, and Gunn’s desire to bring optimism back to Superman, the teaser trailer shows a keen awareness of the reality of the world. Surprisingly, the teaser does not open with an iconic shot of a smiling Superman. Instead, it opens with Superman (David Corenswet) plummeting from the sky, and landing in the Arctic, near his Fortress of Solitude. He’s bloody, beaten, wheezing, and unable to make his way home without the help of Krypto.
There is something uncomfortable, but not at all unwelcome, in hearing Superman struggle to breathe. The moment grounds us in the fact that Superman feels pain. One of the frequent complaints about Superman from non-comic reading general audiences (and those who missed out on Superman: The Animated Series and other various media adaptations) is that he’s overpowered and rarely faces hard physical challenges. This teaser nips that in the bud right away, showing that Superman is very much physically fallible.
Not only do we see Superman physically beaten, but emotionally beaten as well. He walks through an angry crowd that throws bottles and cans at him as he’s escorted into Stagg Industries by the police, where he stands with a sense of the weight of the world on his shoulders. It’s clear that Superman is not universally beloved, and, as a reflection of contemporary America, we see him at his lowest. While there looks to be significant tonal departures from previous Superman films in both style and the comic book elements introduced, it’s ironic that after a decade of complaints about a non-smiling Superman and his controversial perception on the global stage, these themes remain present in Gunn’s take.
This begs the question, of whether these themes have become essential to establishing any contemporary film version of Superman. In 2006, Superman Returns tackled “Why the World Doesn’t Need a Superman” and in 2016, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice asked, “Must There Be a Superman?” The respective answers were that the world does need a Superman and “there is.” What Gunn appears to be grappling with isn’t the need for a Superman or the resigned acceptance that there is one, but the question of “how do we make the world want a Superman?” And this question not only applies to the world of the film, but to audiences as well. With all the superhero movies out there, what makes us want another Superman movie?
Despite the realities of a bruised and beaten Superman, there is also a desire for fantasy, for imagining the world as it could be. Now more than ever. Based on the glimpses we see in the trailer, Superman saving a little girl, and Superman’s symbol being used as a flag in the fictional country of Boravia (which appeared in Superman No. 2 in 1939, though it appears the location has been changed from Europe to the Middle East) there is the suggestion that hope resides in younger generations.
There is something compelling about a character who was created for an audience of children appealing to children again, especially as Superman movies of the millennium have shifted toward older audiences. The tagline for Superman, “Look Up” encourages the same kind of wonder and childlike innocence as ‘78’s “You’ll Believe A Man Can Fly.”
Gunn’s Superman is also a world featuring a myriad of other wonders as the teaser showcases. While the film feels packed with characters, enough to create some trepidation on whether it can retain focus on Clark, they definitely give the film a distinct comic book flavor we haven’t seen in previous Superman films.
The teaser shows quick glimpses of superheroes Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan). Our first look at the film’s villains includes a brief glimpse of a mysterious, black-clad behemoth in a face mask, and the ever-devious Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) who appears to be brimming with emotion. There’s also a giant monster, that may be connected to the giant purple and green orb in the sky – colors associated with a villain Superman fans have been waiting for decades to see onscreen – Brainiac.
As exciting as those building blocks and prospective battles look to be, what felt most compelling about the trailer was Corenswet’s Clark, whose depiction takes a page from Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s All-Star Superman, which saw Clark dressed in oversized clothes, and defined by a slouched posture and messy hair. We see Clark share a tearful moment with his father, Jonathan (Pruitt Taylor Vince), and have numerous interactions with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan). Their chemistry is immediately apparent.
For all the big ideas, questions, and hopes for the future that the teaser circles, the defining takeaway from our first look at James Gunn’s Superman is that he’s just a guy with a dog, managing two jobs, and a romantic relationship as he has good days and bad, some that leave him physically and emotionally beaten down, some that leave him tearful, and others that may count among the best days of his life. Why do we want a Superman? He’s what we are and what we could be – the man of tomorrow, today.

Development
The production of Indian 2 faced significant delays following an on-set accident,[8][9] compounded by the nationwide COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in India, which created uncertainty about the film’s resumption.[10][11] During this time, director S. Shankar shifted his focus to other projects and began developing a script for a potential multi-starrer film intended for a multi-language release, with Yash considered for one of the leading roles.[12][13]
Shankar eventually collaborated with Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations,[14] which had initially planned to produce Indian 2 before stepping away, with Lyca Productions taking over.[15][16][17] On 12 February 2021, the production house officially announced the project, with Ram Charan confirmed as the lead.[18][19] The film was tentatively titled RC15 and SVC50, referencing Charan's 15th film as an actor and the production company's 50th project.[20][21] Although initial reports suggested it would be a historical action film, it was later clarified to be a political action drama.[22] The official title, Game Changer, was unveiled on 27 March 2023, coinciding with Charan's birthday.[23]
In December 2024, it was reported that the film was produced on a budget of ₹300–400 crore.[24] Ram Charan was paid ₹65 crore for his role, while Shankar adopted a revenue-sharing model, taking a smaller advance and opting to receive a substantial share of the film’s profits as remuneration to support its production.[25]
After the release of the film, many audience, film critics and trade pundits felt that the reported budget seems to be exaggerated as films like RRR, 2.0 which were made on a larger scale than this film was reportedly made to be said to made on a similar budget.
Director Ram Gopal Varma also questioned the producer's claim on the films budget and box office collections, thereby comparing the film's budget and box office collection with films like RRR and Pushpa 2: The Rule, which were mounted on a larger scale and had higher expectations among audiences than this film.
Pre-production
"Just because these films deal with politics, people boil down the issues spoken about to just one word: corruption. But there are different facets to it; there are different kinds of governance, and in this film, we have tried to explore the powers and boundaries of an IAS officer [...] as a story evolves, it might shape up to carry a few resemblances to real life, but we didn’t design the character based on a single person."
— Shankar on developing the story of Game Changer[26]
Game Changer was initially developed as an interim project during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, along with the adaptation of Veera Yuga Nayagan Velpari (2019), based on the ruler of Parambu nādu Vēl Pāri, by author-politician S. Venkatesan, a spy thriller which demanded shooting in foreign locales and science fiction action film that needed a fresh face in the leading role and extensive visual effects. Due to the restrictions of film production in that period, he wanted something different that would be produced on a restricted budget and felt that the process of adapting another director's story that excited him.[26] He listened to the narration of numerous directors and finalized on the original story written by Karthik Subbaraj.[27]
Shankar also expressed his interest on doing a Telugu film, attributed to the success of the Telugu-dubbed versions of his films.[26] Speaking to Bhuvanesh Chandar of The Hindu, he added: "I approached it the usual way I do all my films. But because it’s my first straight Telugu film, and since the story demanded it, I had to inculcate Telugu culture, lifestyle and traditions."[26] Sai Madhav Burra contributed to the dialogues,[28] while lyricist Vivek and Farhad Samji did the same for its Tamil and Hindi versions.[29] Vivek and S. Venkatesan also contributed to the screenplay with Shankar.[30][31][32]
Initially, Anirudh Ravichander and Shankar's norm composer A. R. Rahman, were reported to score the music for the film,[33][34] but on Dil Raju's request, Thaman S was chosen to compose the film's music, in his first collaboration with the director.[35] Tirru was signed on as the cinematographer, also in his first time association with the director.[36] Editor Shameer Muhammed,[37] action choreography duo Anbariv and production designer Avinash Kolla were recruited as a part of the technical crew.[38] Dance choreographers of the film include Prabhu Deva, Jani Master, Prem Rakshith, Bosco Martis, Ganesh Acharya, and Sandy.[38]
Casting
Charan reportedly played dual role as a father and son.[39] Shankar complimented that Charan had a "suppressed explosive energy" within, further adding "His performance reflects this; even when he subtly conveys something, you feel a power surging, ready to explode. He knows where to keep it low-key and how to unleash this energy when the scenes require it from him."[26]
In late February, it was reported that South Korean actress Bae Suzy would play the female lead pairing opposite Charan, in her Indian film debut.[40] Afterwards, Rashmika Mandanna was considered to play the female lead,[41] before Kiara Advani was finalized for that role in July 2021;[42] this would mark her second collaboration with Charan after Vinaya Vidheya Rama (2019).[42] Anjali was cast in a pivotal role, while Sunil, Srikanth, Jayaram, and Naveen Chandra were all confirmed to be a part of the film during their presence at the puja ceremony.[43] S. J. Suryah was confirmed to be part of the film in September 2022, playing the antagonist.[44]
Filming
The film was formally launched with a muhurat shot on 8 September 2021 at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad with a traditional pooja ceremony attended by Ranveer Singh, Chiranjeevi, and S. S. Rajamouli.[45][46] Principal photography began on 22 October 2021 and the first schedule was completed in the first week of November. Filming took place in Maharashtra at Pune, Satara and Phaltan.[47] Later that month, the second schedule began with a song shoot that was held for 10 days, at a specially erected set in Ramoji Film City.[48] The song, which also included international dancers, was choreographed by Jani Master.[48] The Times of India reported that nearly ₹23 crore (US$2.7 million) was spent on the song.[49] During the schedule, the team also shot a 7-minute action sequence.Anbariv and others were hired to design these action sequences in the film.[50]
The third schedule for the film commenced in February 2022.[51] Planned for about 20 days, the shoot took place in Andhra Pradesh at Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Kovvur and other nearby places of West Godavari and East Godavari districts.[52][53] Later the same month, it was reported that filming for Indian 2, also directed by Shankar, which the production was halted for two and a half years,[54] would take place after wrapping up the film shoot.[55] Charan took a break from filming to take part in the success celebrations of RRR and returned to filming in April.[56] He and Advani began a 20-day schedule at Amritsar in April, to film their college portions.[56][57] For undisclosed reasons, R. Rathnavelu joined the unit in Amritsar to complete the remaining portions in place of Tirru.[58] In May, the crew shot a schedule in Visakhapatnam.[59]
By July 2022, 60% of the filming was completed with Shankar intending to wrap up filming by December.[60][61] Earlier the same month, a massive song involving around 1000 dancers was shot in Punjab and Hyderabad.[60] After the song shoot, an action sequence involving 1200 fighters was planned.[61] In August, Shankar confirmed that he would be shooting both Game Changer and Indian 2, simultaneously.[62] The filming was planned to resume in early September in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.[62] In November 2022, 10 days of a schedule was filmed in New Zealand, where the team picturized an expensive song across multiple exotic locations in the country.[61]
In February 2023, filming resumed with a few scenes shot at Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, Visakhapatnam, followed by Simhachalam and Charminar.[63][64] A few pictures of scenes from the set were leaked online during the filming at the university.[65] In March 2023, a song involving 100 dancers, choreographed by Prabhu Deva, was shot.[66] In April 2023, Shankar revealed that he would be shooting the climactic scenes soon.[citation needed] On 26 April 2023, filming of the climactic scenes started under the supervision of Anbariv, in a special set in Shamshabad.[citation needed] Charan shot high combat scenes with 1200 fighters for the same.[67] On 9 May, filming of the climax was wrapped.[68] In July, an action sequence choreographed by Peter Hein was wrapped in Hyderabad.[69] Mysore schedule was started on 23 November,[70] and was wrapped early December.[71] In late December, a short schedule in Hyderabad, featuring Srikanth, Samuthirakani, S. J. Suryah, and others was wrapped up.[citation needed] The final schedule was completed in July 2024.[72] In December 2024, it was reported that the filming lasted for 240 days, in which Ram Charan's portion were reportedly short for 192 days.

Reception
Critical response
The film received mixed reviews from critics and audience alike who praised Charan's performance and technical aspects of the film while the writing and over reliance on grandeur received criticism.
Rachit Gupta of Filmfare rated the film 3.5/5 and wrote, "In essence, Game Changer is an unmistakable Shankar creation fuelled and delivered with Ram Charan's charisma."[91] The Hans India also rated the film 3.5 out of 5, calling the performances of Ram Charan and Anjali as "powerhouse" and "strong impact" respectively, and noted, "Game Changer stands out as a solid political drama with exceptional performances, making it a must-watch".[92] Paul Nicodemus of The Times of India gave 3/5 stars and wrote, "Overall, Game Changer is a well-executed commercial film. Shankar's grand scale and Ram Charan's brilliant performance, combined with strong supporting roles and technical excellence, make it a compelling watch for enthusiasts of the genre". The critic also praised the performance of Anjali and S. J. Suryah.[93] Bollywood Hungama rated the film 3.0/5 and wrote, "Game Changer is yet another mass-appealing anti-corruption saga from Shankar that works due to the clapworthy moments, twists and turns, relatable goings-on and performances of Ram Charan and S. J. Suryah."[94]
Prathamesh Jadhav of The Free Press Journal rated Game Changer 3/5 stars, calling it a grand and entertaining political drama with standout performances from Ram Charan and Anjali.[95] Sashidhar Adivi of Times Now gave 3/5 stars and wrote, "With swag and style in abundance, Game Changer is like the quintessential masala entertainer. The film serves up a little bit of everything in its narrative — action, drama, music, romance, exotic locations and sentiment. The screenwriting could have been better."[96] Avad Mohammad of OTTplay gave 3/5 stars and wrote, "Ram Charan shines in this social drama that has a predictable plot, narrated in a decent manner."[97]
Banda Kalyan of Samayam rated the film 3/5 stars, praising Ram Charan's performance, Shankar's visuals, and technical excellence, but criticised the predictable storyline and lack of narrative depth.[98] Sangeetha Devi Dundoo of The Hindu described Ram Charan’s portrayal of Appanna as "Ram Charan’s best performance after Rangasthalam." She remarked, "Director Shankar’s latest has fun segments featuring Ram Charan and SJ Suryah, but the hasty narrative leaves little room for emotional heft."[99] Avinash Ramachandran of The Indian Express gave 2.5/5 stars and wrote, "Game Changer is essentially a lot of nice segments that are stitched together in the hope that it would make a good film. Now, individually, these segments have a sense of purpose, but together, they sometimes become incoherent due to the lack of focus."[100]
Janani K of India Today gave 2.5/5 stars and wrote, "It is high time that Shankar rethinks his way to grandeur filmmaking. [...] Game Changer presents potential ideas but falls short in delivering a lasting impact."[101] Sudhir Srinivasan of Cinema Express gave 2.5/5 stars and wrote, "But here’s the thing: a three-hour canvas of hero-uses-rules-to-thwart-villains can only stretch so far without fraying, especially when the film itself doesn't treat it too much reverence."[102] Kirubhakar Purushothaman of News18 gave 2.5/5 stars and wrote, "While mainstream Indian cinema has changed significantly in terms of style and content, Shankar’s constant bet on his old ideas seems to be surprising. A lot remains the same in this film, which is ironically titled Game Changer."[103]
Goutham S of Pinkvilla gave 2/5 stars and wrote, "Game Changer is undoubtedly one of the biggest movies to release this year, but it fails to live up to the expectations it set. While director Shankar is known for addressing societal issues at the core of his films, this movie feels stuck in the 1990s style of Indian cinema in terms of execution."[104] Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave 2/5 stars and wrote, "Game Changer is never found wanting in the matter of giving plausibility a wide berth and finding easy answers to complex conundrums. The film has a second half that is far better than the first, but taken together they do not add up."[105] BVS Prakash of Deccan Chronicle gave 2/5 stars and wrote, "Director Shankar has to give up his old ideas and come back with refreshing story which doesn't have any shade or resemblance to his earlier blockbusters."[106]
Amit Bhatia of ABP Live gave 2/5 stars and wrote, "Game Changer' fails to live up to its grand title. While Ram Charan’s performance is a saving grace, the predictable storyline, over-the-top execution, and lack of originality weigh the film down."[107] Vinamra Mathur of Firstpost gave 2/5 stars and wrote, "In Game Changer, filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj gets the credit for the story. Of course, it’s not as unwatchable as Satyameva Jayate 2 or Indian 2, but is that genuinely a compliment?"[108] Neeshita Nyayapati of Hindustan Times wrote, "Game Changer is strictly average, even as you’re rooting for it to be something more. It succeeds in staying focused on what it sets out to do - call out corruption in Indian politics - but gives you nothing more. And after Shankar’s last outing, Indian 2, maybe that’s a win."[109]
Box office
The film had a worldwide Gross Box Office Collection (GBOC) of more than Rs. 76.75 crore on its first day. It grossed ₹43 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and ₹17 crore in other territories, for a domestic total of ₹60 crore, on its opening day. It has grossed ₹16.75 crore in the international markets, making the opening day worldwide gross to be ₹76.75 crore.
