Roadmaps Work Summary 2025 - Episode 1

Episode 1 of my podcast-style series entitled Roadmaps Work Summary. The main reason why I don't want to call it something like the Roadmaps Podcast or something along those lines is because I want to make it distinct from other podcast-style productions in that it's not supposed to be somewhere where I just yap about a topic for a certain period of time. I want it to be a platform where I can explain what I've been doing so as not to sow any seeds of confusion with the vast amount of work that I want to do. I want it to be a summary of my work in all aspects that I do it so as to set a standard for what should be expected from somebody who aspires to be in esports and gaming in general. There are a lot of charlatans and fly-by-nights out there and they need to be distinguished from parts of the community that are really trying to make a difference in it.

Esports is a pretty new endeavor and so there isn't really an expectation of what you need to do to make it in esports. As a result, people kind of just wing it and see how it goes. That isn't going to take esports to the moon. It just isn't. Esports needs structure and focus to grow and this series is going to be an archive of that.

The first episode is going to be about results and how much they influence people's perceptions of success in esports. I argue that results, particularly in esports's infancy, which it is in, has little to nothing to do with success in esports these days. I mainly cover results in trading card games in this episode, particularly the Pokemon Trading Card Game, but this can apply to most esports and competitive games in general.

That's the summary of the angle I want to take with this episode. I hope you enjoy it and continue to support my work.
