Thursday Bible Life Today Greatest Locker Room Speech 1-23-2025

Today we look at the first five verses of John 17. This whole chapter is the Lord's Prayer. It is neatly divided into three sections: 1) for Himself, 2) for His apostles, and 3) for all believers, which includes you and me.
As we continue to compare this upper room discourse to the Greatest Locker Room Speech of all time, we liken this portion to the time when the locker room speech nears the end, and the coach and team huddle up for a prayer and then a shout before leaving the locker room to go out onto the court and enter the game. As Jesus was the coach of His team, the now eleven apostles, we realize that we in our day are now on the team of believers and Christ followers, and we can apply this prayer of supplication and encouragement and exhortation to us in our lives--the real game of life where we are all on the Lord's team and have specific roles to play.
