A Southfield man is behind bars after crashing his car into a home during a police chase on Sunday.

Berkley police say on Jan. 19, they attempted to pull over a white Dodge Journey near Edwards and Greenfield. The driver, a 31-year-old from Southfield, allegedly had an outstanding warrant and was driving without insurance.

The driver did not stop, according to police, and drove off from officers, leading to a chase across Metro Detroit.

Officials say the chase moved south into Oak Park, then east on Lincoln towards Coolidge, and then went through Huntington Woods before returning to Berkley.

The driver then lost control of the car and crashed into a home. In the video posted to Facebook by Berkley police, the driver can be seen climbing out of the passenger side window and running from the authorities. Police say he was quickly arrested a short distance from where the crash occurred.

According to investigators, the suspect was found to be in possession of cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms and was possibly driving while under the influence of drugs.

Police are seeking charges for:

* Fleeing and Eluding (5-year felony)
* Possession of Cocaine (4-year felony)
* Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer (2-year felony)
* Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms (1 yr Misd.)
* Operating Under the Influence of Narcotics (93 day Misd.)

Police say the suspect had multiple outstanding felony warrants from Michigan and Georgia related to drug trafficking and theft.

No one was injured in the crash.
