1 Peter 3:13 reminds believers that no ultimate harm can come to those who follow what is good, as they are under God’s sovereign protection. While earthly harm may occur, the believer’s soul is secure in Christ, as emphasized in Matthew 10:28. To follow what is good is to pursue righteousness and live in obedience to God, as seen in Romans 12:21, which calls believers to overcome evil with good. This verse challenges Christians to reject fear of man and trust in God’s eternal justice, as Psalm 56:11 declares, "In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" It also encourages boldness in living for Christ, knowing that God’s justice will prevail and secure eternal blessings for those who remain faithful.
