Editorial: About J6 prisoners and their gaolers
According to mythology, there was an insurrection in the US where rioters invaded congress to kill. They set up pipe bombs at DNC and RNC headquarters. Trump tried to overpower a secret service agent driving him away. In the aftermath, Harris’s life had been in danger at DNC. A few police died. A woman was shot dead on live tv. One could see rioters leading the crowds towards congress, removing protective barriers.

Congress sprang into action, creating a bipartisan committee to investigate. It would subpoena and claim status to sanction those unwilling to be subjected to their investigation. People were arrested and detained without charge for years. Social media banned individuals and legislation was created to legitimise de-banking individuals.

But truth, despite the censorship, leaked out.

There was no insurrection on Jan 6th. The crowd which had listened to Trump exhorting them to march peacefully had responded well. FBI agents, and other feds, moved the barriers and encouraged movement into Congress. Feds broke glass. A Capitol officer shot a woman dead. In coming days, one Capitol officer died from aneurysm and another suicided. Trump never attempted to overpower a secret service agent. Some who went into congress were led by police and staff through the building. One person took centre stage and prayed for wisdom. The investigation into DNC and RNC pipe bombs were dropped after it became apparent it had been a drill. Thing is, not every FBI agent knew about the drill, and some were puzzled as to why their investigation was stymied. The pipe bomber is known to authorities who protect his identity.

The persecution of those who marched for Trump was broad. Merely having a telephone in the vicinity was grounds for arrest without charge. Once arrested, people were detained without legal representation. Some are still waiting for their day in court. Even today, when they have been pardoned, Gaolers and torturers refuse to release them, arguing paperwork is incomplete. And MLK public holiday will prevent them being released tomorrow.

The Jan 6th committee whose bipartisan members openly derided Trump and the victims of the persecution, destroyed evidence of their activity, before being pardoned by Biden. Justice delayed is justice denied. I pray for those victims of administrative abuse. They have endured what would normally be recognised as a crime against humanity. Some have suicided. It is important for any civilisation their authorities act proportionately to crime. How may we proportionately treat the torturers and gaolers? Do not ignore the role of press in the enormity of this bureaucratic action against free citizens. What would Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln do?
