Mother Hen Shelters Chicks Beneath Her Body In The Rain
“I'm singing in the rain, just singing in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again” is what gene Kelly sang in the movie where it rains all the time and he is really happy about it! Honestly, there is something quite soothing in a gentle summer rain, when the droplets are warm as the weather, but still cool enough to give some relief from the heat. That, however, isn’t the case with the chicks from our video!
Footage, filmed on August 25, 2018 in Visakhapatnam, India, shows a soaking wet mother hen standing in the rain with her wings spread only to make room for her baby chicks to shelter underneath her body and keep them dry and warm. Mother of the year, she is!
This video was taken at a local fish market during a heavy rain. However, despite of the awful weather conditions we can see mother's love in the natures way. A hen protecting its chicks from the pouring rain! Cuteness overload!
Adorable footage captures the pure moment when a flock of newborn chicks hide beneath their mother’s body in order to avoid the heavy rain. This heartwarming moment reminds us of the unconditional love a mother can give to her offsprings! Lovely!
Talking about seeking shelter from the rain, take a look at this other video featuring cockroaches hiding snugly beneath a pillar to escape from heavy downpours, as well as the humidity, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
They are common and hardy insects, and can tolerate a wide range of environments from Arctic cold to tropical heat. Some species have an elaborate social structure involving common shelter and social dependence. The reasons that bugs come out of the ground after a rain are very straightforward. When it rains, the holes and cracks in the ground in which they live fill up with rainwater. This does not kill the bugs instead it forces them to climb up out of the ground and to spend some time on the surface areas. They have come up out of the ground to save themselves, and they won’t go back underground until the rain stops and the water dries.
Additionally, the bugs that don’t live underground may try to get into your house as a means of getting away from the rain. Many bugs don’t like getting wet any more than humans do. So in the same way that we run inside whenever the rain starts to fall, bugs also will start looking for shelter.
Everytime we talk about rain, we think of the weather in the United Kingdom as we are all pretty familiar with the stereotype that the weather in the UK can be pretty shabby. That is not exactly true because Britons see a lot of great weather too. Even though this adorable footage was filmed in India, we cannot help but regard this brave momma hen as proud Briton! Way to go girl!
