South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is FINALLY arrested

The South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol was arrested in January 2025 over allegations connected to his short-lived imposition of martial law in December 2024.

This marked the first time a sitting South Korean president was detained for criminal investigation. The arrest followed a tense standoff with his security detail, with multiple attempts by law enforcement to execute an arrest warrant.

Yoon faced charges of inciting insurrection, which is one of the few crimes from which South Korean presidents do not have immunity. His arrest was executed after an initial failed attempt due to resistance from the Presidential Security Service, leading to a significant political crisis in South Korea
