What are the BRICS, the group of countries in which Trump has included Spain.

Trump's mistake
In the Oval Office, when asked about the contribution of less than 100% of several NATO countries to the Atlantic Alliance, including the Spanish case, Trump assured that Spain is part of the BRICS. "I think that Spain is far below. And, nevertheless, they are part of the BRICS. (...) And, if the BRICS want to do that, fine, but we are going to impose at least a 100% tariff on the business they do," he declared.

What are the BRICS and who is part of this club?
The BRICS are a multilateral organization that brings together various emerging economies and that has been established as an alternative international space to the G7. The BRICS acronym comes from its founding countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, which are characterized by being among the largest and most populated countries on the planet, for being rich in natural resources and for having experienced significant growth in their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in recent years.
