Censored by TED: How to protect yourself from sociopaths

Donna Andersen created Lovefraud.com, a website that teaches people to recognize and recover from sociopaths. Most of us learn about sociopaths the hard way — by being exploited or manipulated by one. Donna’s goal is to teach you how to protect yourself from sociopaths before you get in trouble.

Donna presented this talk at TEDx Roland Park on June 5, 2022. She explained the warning signs of a sociopath, meaning someone who could be diagnosed with antisocial, narcissistic, borderline, or histrionic personality disorder, or psychopathy. She also explains how sociopaths are different from the rest of us: They cannot authentically love.

TED, however, censored her talk and did not post it on the TED website. Donna provided TED with a script including scientific citations for all her statements. The organization never provided any explanation for the censorship.

Donna is author of eight books; her newest is “Senior Sociopaths — How to Recognize and Escape Lifelong Abusers.” She first found out about sociopaths by marrying one. She tells the whole outrageous story in her first book, “Love Fraud — How marriage to a sociopath fulfilled my spiritual plan.” After graduating from Syracuse University with degrees in psychology and journalism, she became editor of Atlantic City Magazine and then founded a copywriting business. Donna was educated and successful — yet she still fell for a con man.

Now Donna’s mission is to educate the world that sociopaths exist, they are everywhere, and we all need to protect ourselves from them. Millions of people have visited Lovefraud.com — some have told Donna that her website saved their lives. She’s appeared on multiple TV and radio shows. She founded Lovefraud Education and Recovery, a nonprofit that offers webinars for survivors and professionals. She is co-author of two scientific papers and has presented research to the Society for the Scientific Study of Psychopathy.

Donna is happily remarried, proving that recovery from profound betrayal is possible.
