The Wicked, the Poor and the Judgment of the Lord
(Enduring Our Life When We May Undergo Helplessness)

Text: Psalms 10

Objective: that the brethren may trust the Lord’s judgment in times of being helpless

Intro:
Define – wicked, helpless, poor
verses- Deuteronomy 15:9, Psalms 37:14, Psalms 74:19,
Psalms 82:4, Proverbs 28:15, Proverbs 29:7, Isaiah 11:4, Isaiah 32:7

How to deal with helplessness, bullying, from the wicked:
1) Don’t think that God is also helpless – v. 1
2) Be sure you’re not in that situation by your own doing – v.2 – persecute, not prosecute
3) Realize the nature of the wicked and wickedness – vv. 3-11
a) Boaster
b) Friends with the wicked – or entangled “friendship”
c) Cruel – grievous, vv.5, 7
d) No good judgment
e) In danger of incoming enemies – v.5, not aware of impending danger - v.6,13
f) No peace in always doing wickedness continually
4) The Wicked will incur the sure Judgment of God – vv. 12-18
a) Be sure to be humble – for us the children of God – v.12 – 1Pet 4:15-16
b) Judgment is sure because God knows/sees everything – vv.13-14
c) Judgment will be painful – v.15
5) Protection and vindication is sure for the humble/poor - v14b
a) Because the Lord is the ultimate Judge/King/Executive – v.16
b) Because the Lord genuinely care for the humble/poor – vv.17-18

Message/conclusion:

Let us trust the Lord and His judgment in times of being helpless
