FEEDING WITH A BLOCKED MILK DUCT AND BREAST ENGORGEMENT ||

The first thing I want to say, right up front, something which is really, really important for people wanting to learn about breastfeeding, is:

Since I started to regularly hand express, I have not had a single blocked milk duct since then.

It’s true!!

I feel really good about that, because that’s just testament to how effective hand expressing is and why it should be part of everyone’s breastfeeding journey.

When this video was filmed, however, I was not hand expressing, nor was I using the breast pump anymore, as I did not like using it. Now that I use hand expressing on days that my child is at daycare, I have not suffered a single blocked milk duct, which is just great.

The second thing to note in this video is that obviously the best treatment for a blocked milk duct or breast engorgement is to feed as often as you can. You can see how the engorgement in my breast came down a lot as Spencer breastfed.
