Equity vs. Equality
In the name of what they call "progress," the Leftists in America have woven a tapestry of ideologies under the banners of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (DEI) and Social Justice, which are purportedly aimed at dismantling the structural inequalities they pretend [under their warped ideology] are allegedly plaguing our society. However, this Neo-Marxist/Globalist movement, which promised liberation, has instead ensnared us in a web of contradictions, inefficiencies, and moral hazards, leading not to true justice but to a new form of tyranny that is being implemented under the guise of benevolence.

Firstly, let's address the very concept of Social Justice (a.k.a. Cosmic Justice), as eloquently critiqued by scholars like Thomas Sowell. The Left's vision of Social Justice is not about applying the same standards to all but about equalizing outcomes, which inherently means different rules for different groups. That's not justice; it's an engineered social outcome that disregards individual merit and effort. The pursuit of Social Justice implies that society must intervene in every aspect of life to adjust for perceived inequalities, which is not only logistically impossible but philosophically flawed. It assumes that every human outcome can be controlled by policy, ignoring the myriad personal choices, natural talents, and life's random events that shape individual destinies.

DIE initiatives have, in practice, become tools for ideological conformity rather than genuine pluralism. Rather than celebrating the diversity of thought and merit, these programs often prioritize race, gender, and other identity markers over competence or character. This has led to a dangerous trend where meritocracy is sacrificed at the altar of equity. For instance, in academia and corporate America, we've seen the rise of "diversity statements" as gatekeeping mechanisms, where one's commitment to these ideals can outweigh one's actual qualifications. This isn't fostering diversity; it's enforcing a uniformity of thought where dissent is penalized, and conformity is rewarded.
...
Equity, as championed by the Left, seeks not equality of opportunity but equality of outcome. This is a perversion of justice where success is not something one earns through effort or innovation but something one is entitled to based on identity. This approach undermines the very essence of competition and achievement, leading to mediocrity and a decline in standards. We've witnessed this in the educational sector where grading standards are lowered or achievement tests are adjusted not for fairness but for the sake of balancing outcomes. Such practices do not empower the disadvantaged; they patronize them by lowering the bar, suggesting they cannot succeed on merit alone, which is perhaps the most insidious form of racism or sexism.
...
The Inclusion aspect often translates into exclusion by another name. Inclusion policies sometimes mean excluding those who do not fit the current ideological mold. This is seen in the cancel culture phenomenon, where individuals or ideas not aligning with the prevailing social justice narrative are ostracized or silenced. This has created an environment where fear of being branded a "bigot" or "racist" stifles open debate, critical thinking, and true intellectual diversity. When universities, which have historically been the bastions of free thought and open discourse, have become echo chambers of one ideology-Marxist ideology.
...
Moreover, the implementation of these programs has often led to bureaucratic bloat. Companies and institutions now dedicate significant resources to DIE officers, workshops, and compliance, resources that could be used for direct educational or economic upliftment. This not only increases operational costs but also shifts focus from core missions to ideological policing.
...
The moral implications are equally troubling. By focusing on group identity over individual responsibility, these programs can inadvertently promote victimhood rather than agency. They teach individuals to see themselves first through the lens of their perceived oppression rather than their actual capabilities. This mindset can lead to a culture where personal accountability is diminished, and every setback is attributed to systemic forces rather than personal choices or efforts.
...
Additionally, there's a historical parallel to consider. The drive for Social Justice in its most extreme forms has historically led to disastrous outcomes. From the gulags of Soviet Russia to the cultural revolutions in Maoist China, the quest for utopian equality has often resulted in oppression and human rights abuses under the pretense of correcting what people are told by these despotic Marxist revolutionaries are "societal wrongs." While the U.S. has not descended to such extremes yet, the underlying philosophy where the ends justify the means is disturbingly similar.
...
In conclusion, while the intentions behind advocating for DIE and Social Justice might be noble, the execution has been disastrous. It has created a society where merit is suspect, where equality is confused with sameness, and where inclusion is often about excluding those with different viewpoints. This movement has not only failed to address genuine structural issues but has introduced new forms of discrimination and inefficiency. It's time America reconsiders this path, not just by abandoning the quest for equity but by pursuing true justice that is blind to identity but open to merit, where everyone has an equal shot at success, rather than an equal share of the prize.
