MCP- Stay Your Passion whatever it is!

In Africa, ice time isn’t just rare—it’s a luxury. But that’s no excuse to let your game slip. The best way forward? Double down on off-ice practice. So here I am, on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, with Table Mountain standing proud behind me, sharpening my skills with an old wooden stick.
Why this outdated stick? It’s no antique—it’s a training partner. It demands focus, strength, and precision. And as anyone who has ever been deeply connected to their passion knows, the fire doesn’t fade, no matter where you are or how old you get.
I’m almost 60, proudly playing #33 for the Western Province Masters Ice Hockey Division. While the world around me buzzes with millions of people, here I stand alone on this pristine stretch of sand, picking out beach pebbles to use as practice pucks, firing them into the breeze. The rhythm of the waves is my soundtrack, and the ocean breeze feels like my cheering crowd. This isn’t just about ice hockey. It’s about keeping the spark alive—the passions that define us and bring us joy. Whether it’s stick handling on the beach, playing music, painting, or anything else that lights up your soul, these pursuits are what create moments of perfection, sparks of delight, and deep personal connection to the here and now.
So to anyone out there—regardless of age, location, or obstacles—keep following the things that make your heart race. Stay dedicated to the pursuit, not because you have to, but because it’s what keeps you in tune with life itself.
Remember, it’s not about where you train or practice—it’s about why you do it. Every step, every handle, every shot, every brushstroke, or every note is another chance to feel alive and improve on the person you were yesterday.
