NBC26 Storm Shield Weather Forecast
The Storm Prediction Center has a marginal risk for severe weather which could be some hail or gusty winds. On top of the risk for severe storms, we are also concerned for the potential of flooding in the area. The soil is extremely saturated after seeing rainfall totals that look more like snowfall total because of how high some locations were. A flash flood watch is in effect for 8 of our counties, Waushara, Winnebago, Calumet, Manitowoc, Green Lake, Marquette, Fond Du Lac, and Sheboygan, until Saturday evening. The risk for showers and thunderstorms will persist for the beginning of September. We are sitting in this pattern that will allow a wave of storm complexes to move through the Midwest, transporting gulf moisture and creating the threat for heavy showers and storms. We have a chance of storms all the way through next Thursday. Looking at the latest data, we could see anywhere from just under an inch of rain to over a few inches. The average is right around 2.25 inches.
