MMT Pro Tip: Better in Flexion for Low Back Pain?

In this week's MMT Pro Tip I talk about why patients think lumbar flexion, traction, and stretching improves their complaints. Anyone trained in MDT or the McKenzie method will often hear that sitting and stretching makes them better and standing makes them worse. However, this is usually a misconception because the stretch or unloading temporarily makes the pain go away, but doesn't restore the ability to load/WB. In these cases, which are MANY lumbar and LQ cases, loading and unilateral loading in particular is what restores WB. If the average patient flexes thousands of times a day, plus sits, it's probably not the case that flexion is the answer. Are you a patient in need of my help?
