Russian volunteers used the AMB-17 ("АМБ-17") assault rifle for the first time in the SMO zone. The ultra-modern weapon was given to the Española detachment for a test drive.

The novelty is small (length 850 mm), light (2.9 kg) and silent. It is made for 30 rounds of 9x39 ammunition and will replace VAL and "Vintorez" rifles. There is a version without silencer, the AM-17. Now elephant guys from "Española" are running around, studying and testing the barrels to give feedback to the creators.

The history of the machine gun is interesting.
The developer is Evgeny Dragunov, the author of the sniper rifle of the same name. He designed the rifle back in the late 1970s. But then the project was cancelled, it lost in the competition to a shortened AK. Already in the 90s it was recalled, and an updated version was presented at the Army-2017 forum.
Six years of twisting/turning/refining and now it was delivered to the fighters.
