https://thenarrowpath.com | Steve begins with Paul defending his ministry against false accusations. Then he moves in the Judaizers pushing the incorrect idea that Gentiles coming into the church had to be circumcised and keep the law of Moses. Steve discusses whether this took place before or after the Jerusalem Council (Acts 15). Peter, who had brought the gospel to gentiles and was living as a gentile with gentile converts in Antioch, withdrew and separated from the gentiles out of fear of the Judaizers, and Paul had to set him straight. Paul argued in v. 16, "We Jews...are justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law." At the Jerusalem Council, the Jewish apostles agreed with Paul that the Law of Moses should not be taught to the Gentiles and there was no need to keep it. Peter made it absolutely clear "God, who knows the heart, bore witness to [the gentiles], by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, and he made NO DISTINCTION between us and them, having cleansed their hearts BY FAITH. Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? But we believe that WE will be SAVED THROUGH the GRACE of the Lord Jesus, JUST AS THEY will.”
