The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth

Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. That doesn’t make a lot of sense does it... The meek will inherit the earth?

This beatitude …has to do with our relationship with others.

Altogether, Jesus shared 8 beatitudes in Matthew 5 during His sermon on the mount. Four have to do with our relationship with God, and four have to do with our relationships with others.

Now, It’s one thing for us to be poor in spirit with our God but it’s something else to expect us, to always respond to others in meekness.

Quite often, we find ourselves in situations where others are trying to push us around, or insult us, or take advantage of our good nature. And these kind of things can stir up our spirit a little bit, and we want to respond assertively.

According to Jesus, meekness isn't weakness, but what is it? And how can living a life of meekness gain our entrance into the kingdom of heaven?
