TikTok Is Banned in America 🇺🇸 Expat Perspective

For the moment, TikTok is coming back online temporarily as a "temporary suspense of penalty" is promised while illegality of service is upheld. But regardless as to the immediate state, which included TikTok having gone down yesterday for American users and app users around the world experiencing outages, this even highlights the utter contempt and lack of protection for constituional rights, especially first amendment rights to speech and press, as the US Supreme Court outright ruled that Americans' right to speek was not real and that what can and cannot be said is at the discretion of the US government.

The end of the farce of American democracy is complete. There can no longer be any claim to any semblance of freedom. Without the freedom to communicate, there is no possibility of protecting, or learning about, further rights. The right to vote has no meaning when there is no right to discuss what one votes for.

The "Great Firewall of America" is now a very real thing. Previously what information, viewpoints, public opinion were available to the public were manipulated softly, as of today, there is a hard stop. And no claims of "in only affects one company" or "it only stops one set of viewpoints", as anti-American as even those statements are, are utterly false as the chilling effect of using one corporation to set an "example" as to the power of the US government to seize or shut down any media or news outlet that does not project the message approved by the US government.

No media that passes through the US can be trusted. And Americans can never feel confident that the news they receive is unbiased, unfiltered. Americans do not have the right to oversee, or dissent from, the opinions of their own government.
