Rachel and the Stranger (1948)

Directed by Norman Foster, starring Loretta Young, William Holden, and Robert Mitchum. Set on the American frontier, the film follows widower David Harvey (Holden), who marries Rachel (Young), an indentured servant, to help raise his son and manage his home. Initially treating her as little more than a housekeeper, David begins to see Rachel's worth when a charming drifter (Mitchum) arrives, sparking jealousy and romantic tension.
