Kabaddi is the national sport of Bangladesh but it’s also popular throughout South-East Asia. In Kabaddi, two teams occupy opposite halves of a field and take turns to send a ‘raider’ into the other half to win points by tagging or wrestling members of the opposing team. The raider then tries to return to his own half, holding his breath during the raid. Each team consists of 12 players (seven on the field with five on reserve). It’s an exhausting game so it consists of just two 20-minute halves. The British army now plays the game as part of its training.
