48-Hour Film Project showcases homegrown movies
A whole bunch of movies were being made here in town earlier this month. Twenty-four of them in fact. At the same time! Jordan Lema used to participate in the 48-Hour Film project, now he runs it. He says "I'm the city producer-that means there are a hundred and thirty of me." Each year local teams compete to see who can whip up the best five to seven minute film in just forty-eight hours. The best local movies compete nationally. Last year's batch of local films were so good they won awards at the Cannes Film Festival. "Best cinematography is what we got and we were in the top five for best film" This years top ten films will be recognized at the Awards Screening September 12th at Shea's Smith Theatre. Jordan says "everyone is invited, it's a Hollywood style party." Before the big bash you can see all twenty-four of the local films on the big screen at the Screening Room Cafe August 30th and 31st.
