The story follows Alan Brooks (Forrest Tucker), a United Nations troubleshooter investigating a series of mysterious deaths near the Trollenberg mountain. Local legends speak of strange happenings in the area, and a persistent, freezing fog clings to the mountainside.

Brooks is joined by two sisters, Anne (Janet Munro) and Sarah Pilgrim (Jennifer Jayne), one of whom possesses psychic abilities that link her to the malevolent force. As the fog spreads, it becomes clear that monstrous, brain-sucking aliens with massive, crawling eyes are hiding within it, using the cover of the fog to attack their victims.

The battle for survival escalates as Brooks and the team discover the extraterrestrials' true purpose and attempt to stop the invasion before it engulfs the world.
