The Judgment in 1 Peter 2:7-8

First Peter chapter 2 verses 7 through 8 reveals a stark contrast between believers and those who reject Christ. For believers, Christ is precious and the cornerstone of their faith. For the disobedient, He is a stumbling block and a rock of offense. Psalm 118 verse 22 foretells that the stone rejected by the builders would become the cornerstone, fulfilled in Christ. Those who reject Him fall not by accident but through willful disobedience to God’s word, as shown in John chapter 3 verse 19. Their stumbling fulfills God’s sovereign judgment, as emphasized in Romans chapter 9 verses 22 through 23. This passage challenges Christians to examine their response to Christ. Is He the foundation of your life, or are you stumbling over Him? Hebrews chapter 10 verses 26 through 27 warns of judgment for those who reject the truth, urging all to embrace Christ as the cornerstone and stand firm in faith.
