The Terrifying Choice of 1 Peter 2:6

First Peter chapter 2 verse 6 declares Jesus as the chief cornerstone, laid by God as the only foundation for salvation. This cornerstone is "elect" and "precious," chosen by God but rejected by men. Those who believe in Him will never be put to shame, but those who reject Him face eternal judgment. Isaiah chapter 28 verse 16 confirms this truth, and Acts chapter 4 verse 12 emphasizes that salvation is found in no one else. To reject this cornerstone is to oppose God Himself. The foundation of every life is either Christ or something else, but only those built on Christ will endure. Matthew chapter 7 verses 24 through 27 warns that those who build on sand will face total collapse. The phrase "he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame" is a comfort to true believers but a terror to the unrepentant. At the final judgment described in Revelation chapter 20 verses 11 through 15, those without Christ as their foundation will face eternal shame and condemnation. This passage calls for urgent self-examination, as second Corinthians chapter 13 verse 5 commands.
