A chippy which opens for just six hours a week is so popular with customers they will queue for hours - and even fly in by private PLANE to sample the food. Upton Fish and Chip Shop owner Sally Shaw, 45, uses a 66-year-old batter recipe which attracts customers from miles around. The fish and chips are cooked in dripping in a huge coal-fired range - believed to be one of only two in operation in the UK. People queue down the street in Gainsborough, north Lincs., when it opens on Friday nights and Saturday lunchtimes - and some even bring camp chairs to sit on. The takeaway, which recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, has people come from far and wide by bicycle, car and even plane to sample their famous fish and chips.
