Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a “comprehensive strategic partnership treaty,” strengthening ties in trade, military, science, and culture amid Western sanctions.

Putin hailed the deal as a breakthrough for regional stability, while Pezeshkian emphasized increased trade and security cooperation.

The treaty follows closer Russia-Iran relations after Moscow’s Ukraine invasion, with allegations of Tehran supplying drones, which both deny.

The agreement also highlights joint efforts on gas projects and transport corridors, NBC News has reported.
