Finding the Way Out

At first, my search for Jesus felt futile, like groping around in a dark room, hoping to find a light switch. I didn’t even know where to start. I had so many questions and so few answers. The world’s promises of fulfillment through success, pleasure, or self-improvement had left me empty, but the idea of surrendering to a Savior seemed foreign and uncomfortable.

I didn’t understand grace. I had spent so much of my life trying to earn approval—whether from others, myself, or God—that the idea of undeserved favor was hard to accept. Could it really be that simple? Could the cross, something I had barely thought about before, hold the answer I was looking for?

The truth began to hit me as I started to open the Bible for myself. Verses like, *"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast"* (Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV), challenged everything I thought I knew. Salvation wasn’t about what I could do—it was about what Jesus had already done.

The Cross and My Brokenness

For the first time, I began to see the cross not as a symbol of religion but as a bridge between my brokenness and God’s perfect holiness. Jesus had taken on Himself the punishment that I deserved. All my sins—every lie, every act of selfishness, every time I had turned my back on Him—were nailed to the cross.

But it wasn’t just about forgiveness. It was about transformation. The same Jesus who died for my sins rose again to offer me new life. He didn’t just want to save me from hell; He wanted to save me from the hell I was living in—a life marked by emptiness, failure, and shame.

A New Beginning

Surrendering to Jesus wasn’t an overnight process for me. It took time, and it required letting go of my pride, my misconceptions, and my stubborn attempts to do life on my own terms. But as I took those steps of faith, I began to experience the truth of His promise: *"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV).

The weight of my sin, the guilt that had haunted me, and the endless cycle of trying and failing—it was all lifted. I was no longer defined by my past mistakes or my inability to measure up. I was defined by His love and grace.

The Journey Beyond the Cross

This is the heart of redemption: it doesn’t end at the cross. The cross is where it begins. Beyond the cross is a life of purpose, joy, and peace that comes from walking with Jesus. It’s not a perfect journey, and I still stumble, but now I know I don’t walk alone. His grace is sufficient for me, and His strength is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Looking back, I wish someone had explained the plan of redemption to me sooner. But I also know that God’s timing is perfect. He met me where I was, and He’s ready to meet you too, wherever you are on your journey.

Because of Jesus, I’ve found my way out of the darkness and into His marvelous light. And that changes everything.

Prepare to reflect, grow, and embrace the fullness of God’s love and grace as you go "Beyond the Cross".
