THE MONKEY Official Trailer (2025) RedBand

Watch The Monkey red band trailer for this upcoming horror movie based on the Stephen King short story and produced by James Wan (The Conjuring, Saw). The Monkey is a new trip from Longlegs writer/director, Osgood Perkins. The Monkey opens in theaters on February 21, 2025.

When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy.
A complete departure from the seriousness of Longlegs last year, director Osgood Perkins is back with The Monkey this year, and the bloody-as-hell Red Band trailer has arrived today.

A horror-comedy adaptation of Stephen King’s same-titled short story, The Monkey arrives in theaters on February 21, 2025, and you can watch NEON’s Red Band trailer below.

The film’s new poster (below) promises an “outrageously gory” and “thoroughly gratuitous” experience, with instruments of death including a harpoon gun, a bowling ball, a shotgun, a hibachi knife, a lawnmower, and even a stampede of wild horses. Yeah, Osgood Perkins is letting his hair down with this one, going as brutally bonkers as an “R” rating will allow.

From NEON and producer James Wan, The Monkey has indeed been rated “R” for “Strong bloody violent content, gore, language throughout, and some sexual references.”

In The Monkey, “When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy.”

The Monkey is a short horror story that appeared in King’s Skeleton Crew, a 1985 collection that also featured The Mist, The Jaunt, The Raft, Survivor Type, The Reach, and more.

Theo James (“The White Lotus”), Tatiana Maslany (She–Hulk: Attorney at Law), Elijah Wood (Maniac), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends) and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek) star in this one.
NEON has at last revealed the brutal new red band Trailer and a new Poster for the Stephen King adaptation ‘The Monkey’ directed by Osgood Perkins from his own screenplay.

You can watch the full Official Red Band Trailer for the film below, followed by the new Poster. The Trailer was initially expected last week but was unexpectedly delayed, likely due to the fire related deaths featured within which now appear to have been removed. Trailers have been released for upcoming horror movies The Monkey and Until Dawn
The trailers were released on February 21 and April 25, respectively
People are especially divided on Until Dawn's premise
We were spoiled when it came to horror last year, and I'm hoping 2025 gets off to a strong start now we've got trailers for two exciting new movies. Whenever I reflect on TechRadar contributor Gem Seddon's best horror movies of 2024, I wonder how we're going to top that. Considering we had huge hits like The Substance and, my personal favorite, I Saw the TV Glow, I feel like it's going to take a lot to top that this year. I have already put together my most anticipated horror movies of 2025, and it looks like I'll be adding The Monkey and Until Dawn to the list.

Oz Perkins freaked everyone out with his horror-crime hit Longlegs last year, and hopefully, The Monkey will do just as well for him. Meanwhile, the PlayStation horror game sensation Until Dawn is getting the big screen treatment with a very important twist.

Here's what you need to know.

Longlegs was everywhere last year, and even if you weren't brave enough to watch Nicolas Cage as the titular serial killer, you've no doubt heard plenty about it. Choosing not to rest on his laurels, director Oz Perkins is back with another offering in the form of The Monkey. It's got my attention already since Saw and The Conjuring director James Wan is also involved as a producer.

The Monkey has a brilliant cast including Elijah Wood and Tatiana Maslany, with Theo James in a dual role as twin brothers who find their father's vintage toy monkey in the attic which, unfortunately for them, is cursed. We've had loads of creepy dolls like Chucky, Annabelle, and M3GAN on the big screen so I'm keen to see if this scary-looking monkey can reach similar heights. There's not long to wait either as the movie arrives on February 21.

This one is definitely going to divide people. Until Dawn is one of the best horror games out there, so it's natural people are going to feel apprehensive about the movie adaptation. Recently, it was confirmed that Until Dawn would follow a different story to the game and I personally think that's a smart decision. Setting the movie in the universe but surprising us with a narrative that differs from the game means it's new and exciting, although others aren't convinced!

In what is shaping up to be the most talked about horror adaptation right now, this one is heading to cinemas on April 25, so there's a little wait. But if you want some scares this spring, it might be worth giving Until Dawn a chance.
Based on Stephen King’s short story of the same name, the story centres on twin brothers Hal and Bill (both played by Theo James), who stumble upon their father’s old toy monkey in the attic. Innocuous at first glance, the wind-up monkey with its clapping cymbals soon proves to be anything but harmless. As the toy’s presence correlates with a string of grisly deaths, the brothers try to destroy it. Fast-forward twenty-five years, and the cursed contraption resurfaces, forcing the now-estranged siblings to face their terrifying past and prevent further bloodshed.

The cast includes Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings), and Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), the latter of whom portrays the younger versions of the twin brothers. Filmmaker James Wan (The Conjuring, Saw) is among the producers.

Expectations for some dark, gory thrills are high—and this trailer doesn’t disappoint. The Monkey takes its cymbal-clashing chaos to Australian cinemas on 20 February and U.S. cinemas on 21 February.
A new trailer for Theo James‘ upcoming comedy horror movie has been released!

The 40-year-old Emmy-nominated actor stars in movie adaption of Stephen King‘s short story The Monkey directed by Longlegs director Osgood Perkins.

Here’s the synopsis: “When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy.”

The movie, which was produced by The Conjuring‘s James Wan, also stars Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, Sarah Levy, and Christian Convery.

The Monkey was first published as a booklet included in Gallery magazine back in 1980. The story was revised and published in Stephen‘s Skeleton Crew collection in 1985.

If you missed it, Theo has a new action movie in the works with Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

The Monkey hits theaters on February 21.

Golden Trailer Awards

Awarded for Excellence in motion picture marketing, film trailers, posters and television advertisement
Country United States
First awarded September 21, 1999
Website http://www.goldentrailer.com/
The Golden Trailer Awards are an American annual award show for film trailers founded in 1999.[1] The awards also honor the best work in all areas of film and video game marketing, including posters, television advertisements and other media, in 108 categories.[2]

It has been called "the Hollywood Awards show for the post-MTV era" and by its founders as celebrating "the people who condense 120 minutes into a two-minute minor opus."[3]

Overview
The 1st Golden Trailer Awards ceremony was held on September 21, 1999, in New York and had 19 categories. This jury consisted of Quentin Tarantino, Stephen Wooley, Jeff Kleeman and David Kaminow (from Miramax). The cofounders, sisters Evelyn Watters and Monica Brady, promoted their inaugural festival by screening the nominated trailers inside a gold-painted Airstream trailer at the 2000 Sundance festival.[4]

The ceremonies moved to Los Angeles in 2002.[5] Notable jurors in subsequent years have included Pedro Almodovar, Joel Siegel, Ben Stiller, Benicio Del Toro, Glenn Close, and Brett Ratner.[6] Even as the ceremonies have expanded to include 108 categories (show and non-show), they have made a point of remaining short (at 70 minutes) — like the works they are recognizing.[7] All editions have been broadcast online; more recent years have been televised on various networks including HDNet, ReelzChannel and Fox's MyNetworkTV.[8]

Notable additions to the award list include the "Golden Fleece" award, given to the trailer that gives a bad movie the most appeal. Executive Director Evelyn Watters describes it as celebrating the "pure art of cutting";[9] Executive Producer Monica Brady describes it as recognizing "a great trailer for a movie that is not so great."[10] It has also been called "the most anticipated [award] of the evening."[11]

Hosts for the awards ceremonies have included Kathy Griffin (2002), Dennis Miller (2003), Tom Green (2004), Sinbad (2008), Natasha Leggero (2011), TJ Miller (2015) and Wayne Brady (2016, 2017).[12] The award was designed by artist Jim Bachor.[13]

The 9th Annual Golden Trailer Awards (broadcast as the Movie Preview Awards on MyNetworkTV),[citation needed] in 2008 were at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. The Dark Knight won three awards: Best Action, Best Summer Blockbuster Poster and Trailer of the Year[14] in the public vote held by USA Today.

The 19th annual awards ceremony was held on May 31, 2018, at the Theater at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles. Michelle Buteau was host and master of ceremonies, and the presenters included Kate Flannery, Lea DeLaria, Yvette Nicole Brown, Nicole Sullivan and Missi Pyle. Paul Dergarabedian of comScore presented the Box Office Weekend Award (The Bow) to Avengers: Infinity War for the highest three day gross between May 1, 2017, and April 30, 2018.[15]
