Henderson Police Officer Fires Shot After Being Hit by Fleeing Driver

On January 13th, 2025, at approximately 1:00 pm, Henderson Police officers were notified of a Jeep displaying a stolen license plate in the parking lot of 120 E. Lake Mead Parkway.

The area sergeant located the Jeep which was stopped in the parking lot. As the sergeant approached the Jeep to contact the driver, the driver fled and struck the sergeant with the vehicle.

The sergeant then discharged his firearm at the Jeep, striking the driver in the arm.

The driver continued fleeing and crashed into another vehicle in the parking lot of 200 E. Lake Mead Parkway.

After the crash, the driver fled on foot and was apprehended inside a nearby business.

The driver was identified as 43-year-old Johnathan Gaston.

The passenger was located separately, interviewed, and released.

The sergeant was transported to Sunrise Hospital and was later discharged.

Gaston was also transported to Sunrise Hospital and after treatment, was booked in the Henderson Detention Center.
